This unique formulation is designed to support the mitochondria, which are often referred to as the "powerhouse" of the cell, and for good reason, as the mitochondria houses the electron transport chain which is responsible for creating ATP, the source of all energy in the body. The production of energy within the mitochondria of the cells is a complex process of events, with many essential nutrients playing key roles throughout.

Within the mitochondria, vitamin B1 (thiamine), B2 (riboflavin), B3 (niacinamide), pantothenic acid (B5), and vitamin C are all involved in energy production as cofactors to enzyme reactions.

Alpha lipoic acid is a vitamin-like substance involved in the Kreb's cycle - part of the energy production process in the mitochondria. Mitochondrial Resuscitate now contains sodium R-alpha-lipoic acid which is a highly bioavailable and stabilised form.

N-acetyl-L-carnitine is involved in the process within the body of converting fat into energy. The most important function L-carnitine has is metabolically, where it supports the transfer of long chain fatty acids across the membranes of the mitochondria, where they are utilised as fuel for energy.

Mitochondrial Resuscitate also contains coenzyme Q10, a nutrient found in virtually all cells, with the majority of coenzyme Q10 concentrated in the mitochondria. Biologically, coenzyme Q10 is a direct carrier of electrons in the mitochondria, necessary for ATP (energy) production.

The formula also contains N-acetyl-cysteine (NAC), which has been increased from 50mg to 100mg per serving. NAC is a precursor to glutathione, the body’s master antioxidant.

Mitochondrial Resuscitate contains important nutrient cofactors, along with vitamins B2, C and E; and the minerals selenium, manganese and zinc which provide protection of cells from oxidative stress.
