Joints & Muscles

[ICON=jointmuscles.gif] Joint aches and pains can be due to several things. Most commonly it is down to wear and tear with a deterioration of the cartilage that protects the ends of bones. The body does have the ability to repair this cartilage but this slows down as we age. By giving the body the nutrients its needs to facilitate this repair we may be able to reduce the rate of deterioration. The most commonly used nutrients to do this are Glucosamine Hydrochloride, MSM, vitamin C, boswellia and curcumin and ginger. The first two are nutrients that make up the structure of the cartilage and the last two support the body’s ability to renew the cartilage. Magnesium is essential for healthy relaxation of our muscles and therefore cramps and restless legs can be due to a deficiency of this mineral. The MSM also has the added benefit of reducing inflammation and fluid pressure in the joint area. Joint pain may not be just due to wear and tear. Sometimes viruses, unwanted food particles and yeast can lodge in the joint areas of the body. The immune system will instigate an immune reaction against these unwanted invaders and inflammation will result. Keeping a strong immune system is therefore essential.
